Full Name: Hoya nicholsoniae ‘New Guinea Ghost’

Publication History:
First published by Simonsson as ‘New Guinean Ghost’.Simonsson,N.(2019).Mina Favoritter.Hoyatelegrafen.4 6(21).
However, the only** name that has been used in the market is Hoya nicholsoniae ‘New Guinea Ghost’ which was also established in print, and the single letter difference may be a typo.
EDIT 5/17/24: The name ‘New Guinean Ghost’ was used in the Swedish Market, prior to what I previously understood, when the Hoya was first released. But it is not known globally, is not used any longer, and never was widely known.

In 2023, The Swedish Hoya Society presented the species Hoya nicholsoniae F.Muell., which contains several heterotypic synonyms of the species. The cultivar ‘New Guinea Ghost’ was included in this presentation of Hoya nicholsoniae as a name (without description). This further validates the existing usage by Simonsson.
Although ‘New Guinea Ghost’ differs by one letter and was published second, it is the correct name of the cultivar, which preserves existing usage.
