It was established with a description by Randal,M in Stemma Journal 4(1) in 2022 with print circulation. It may be called by either Hoya celata ‘Erik’ or Hoya ‘Erik’.

Description Hoya celata ‘Erik’ has shorter leaves than Hoya celata. They are thicker and on average a deeper green with more visible venation. The blooms are mainly white but the corona offers some peach-red coloration in the center surrounding the anther appendages. Pedicels green. It differs significantly from the type of the species. While it has similarities to other open pollinated seedlings of Hoya celata, Hoya ‘Erik’ is recognizable.

‘Erik’ has a somewhat looser and more freely vining habit than Hoya celata which tends to mound node upon node before sending out new vines.

Note ‘Erik’ is often listed as a hybrid, but no pollen donor is known.
