Hoya australis ‘Lisa’, Hoya australis subsp.tenuipes ‘Lisa’

Status: Established & Accepted

Originator: Unknown

Nominant: Unknown

This is a cultivar of Hoya australis subsp.tenuipes. The full latin species binomial combined with the subspecies as published and accepted under the ICN can be a bit of a mouthful, but it does add further information about this cultivar.

Flowers are extremely fragrant and as is typical for the subspecies, they are smaller than in Hoya australis subsp. australis. All parts except for parts of the new growth are glabrous.

First Established:

Randal,M.(2007).Hoya australis.Fraterna,20(1),11.

Described as:

“a lovely variegated form with pink, yellow, and several shades of green in complex patterns. New growth is often tinged purple.”

At the time, Randal also described ‘Lisa’ as a sport. This was when it had been newly released. It did not originate from the Liddle Nursery. It appears likely to have been selected in Thailand, but this is not confirmed.

Availability: Highly available. Mass produced and grown by hobbyists near-globally wherever Hoyas are collected.
